LFA vs Ascari KZ1R

I was reading about this car in the latest European Car magazine and I saw the price and was stunned. It's a wonderful car. It has the BMW E39 M5 engine with 520hp, 380 torque. It's good for 200 mph as the car weighs around 2800 lbs. The car looks good outside and not bad inside. But again, the price. It costs $563,868.
There has been a lot of crap talk about the LFA but the Ascari price doesn't even raise an eyebrow. The engine is a wonderful piece but the E39 motor is dated. So here we have dated power, a nice but not the best looking sports car that costs more than the LFA....with it's up to date tech....and people are talking crap about it. Oh, the LFA looks better imo as well.
ANyone out there with an explanation?
do yall really think lexus is loosing money selling this car, i doubt it, toyota is not in the business of loosing money, if that was the case, then this car would stay a prototype, and what would be the purpose of selling it. they probably not going to make the big profits they were hoping for, but they are going to make money

The LFA itself will lose money, even at a projected $375,000 a pop, partly because production is being deliberately capped at 500 units as another way to burnish the images of both car and brand. The purpose of a "halo car" is to bring buyers to the brand, and in particular the F marque line. If you take into account the amount of technology invented for this vehicle and the sales dollars it will take in, there could be no other conclusion.
FYI, Acura lost money on every NSX sold also.

True- the car is built to
1. Be and stay ahead of their Japanese rivals
2. more importantly elevate Lexus into that super car status.
they are doing it to inject excitement into the brand and showcase the latest in technology albeit at a lo$$ to them
The LFA is way ahead of the Ascari even though Ascari is a bad *** performance car too.

the ascari has been around for a while now, where as the LFA is a new car, even with its OLD technology, it will beat the LFA in a race and in a straight line, it is also more unique with less cars being built, and u also get the privilege of becoming a member of the ascari club, which has arguably the best track in the world where u can race ur car anytime u want, the LFA is a great car, but the price is not justifiable, u can get better cars for that price with better performance, it barely keeps up with cars that are a class under it ( 458, LP560, 997.2 turbo PDK ) and these arent even the special versions of those cars

Im sure Lexus could have massage another 50-100 ponies out of that V10 but pure speed is not the end-all-do-all. I'm sure a race version of the LFA can more than keep up with the worlds fastest.
The Ascari has been around longer but it compares to a kit car in my view. How can a kit car be worth more than a technologically advanced, uber-reliable marque with a history (albeit short) of luxury production cars. I think the Ascari is way overpriced if the LFA is overpriced.
I'd rather own the LFA.
I'm a new guy here, and I just want to give some opinion on this.
I6 in Supra can easily tune up to 1000hp, why don't Toyota make a new version of 2JZGTE and tune it to 1500 or 2000hp to justify the price? because Toyota want it to be a pure V10 with the most beautiful sound. How much money they need to add twin turbo on every LFA? Toyota don't even bother doing that.
If people still think it's overpriced because it's a Lexus, they are wrong. Lexus today is not the one we once know 20 years ago. Its LFA is the number 1 in it class at 24 hour of Nurburgring this year. SC430 won many Super GT series in Japan. What else do you need to know? Lexus compete head-to-head with Germans.
I just want to give you guys a head up. MB SLS AMG is built on next gen Viper plateform, it costs about 25K and not even an exclusive production car(not so sure). How much does Viper cost? again? ACR SRT10? ACR-X?

As for your price/performance school of thought, the GT-R, Viper ACR, Vette ZR-1 and Mitsu Evo **** all over your hypothesis. Useless argument. below 4 seconds, tens of thousands separates tenths of seconds, and in that price range, I'm pretty sure they buyers don't care.
The LFa's speed is comparable to the SLR, 599, DBS etc... and it is still cheaper than most of them.

the ending is the truth to it all. way to pricey IMHO. at the end of the day its still a lexus. motor technology wise, seems like a copycat of the V10 off the M5. its a great car and performs superb but at that price range you can own pretty much any car from porsche, lamborghini, ferrari.... but i guess maybe reliability and cost efficient maintenance is what lexus has to offer? awesome performing car, but i think italian leather takes the win at the price range
