Default USA Spec BT45Toy issues

Daughter just bought a 2003 RX300, and right away she wants bluetooth connectivity. Read a lot of posts here, decided on the BT45 so we could retain CD changer use. Well, not so much...

With DIP switches down (on). the unit connects to the phone and works as it should with radio buttons. Switches on, off, off, on makes the phone not work with the disc up/down buttons. With no cassette in the CD player, that is. Push it in,and sometimes it plays, sometimes not, sometimes at normal volume, sometimes not. No matter what source is pressed, it always says CD, but does not always play the disc. Just sometimes. Then maybe the display alternates from CD to FM. Sometimes I hear both FM and CD, or phone and CD. Crazy!

Solution would seem to be an on/off switch for the BT45, with it only off on the rare occasion a CD is played (when I drive...).

Anyone else have bizarre issues with this thing?

UPDATE
I wired in a SPDT on/on rocker switch (put it where a seat heater switch should go). Used a CAS-TLC splitter for the BT. Spliced into the 12v ACC wire going into the splitter, that wire now goes to input on toggle switch. Tapped out the wires going to the CDC and the BT45 for the other two switch terminals. Mostly it works now.

With switch in CD position, the player works fine, all controls and volume normal. With switch in BT position, the BT45 works fine, and all non-CD features of stereo work. Can switch from CD to BT on the fly and everything works as it should. Only issue is going from BT to CD, that does not work; stereo CD button does not change to CDC. To get CD player to operate, I have to turn off the car and restart. (For testing, off to ACC.) Suspect issue is the stereo head unit somehow not recognizing the CD player.

I can live with this, as I have use of both units, without any crazy volume issues.
