Default 1997 SC400 stereo replacement

Fairly new sc owner bought it a couple months ago and been looking around some tutorials on how to replace my Nakamichi stereo system with something more up to date. I was looking at the Kenwood DPX501BT and was wondering if it would fit and what else ill need to buy. Barely got the car kind not familiar with anything yet, is this possible to do or should I go somewhere to get this done? Thanks in advance and heres some pics of the sc

Most double DIN head unit will fit perfectly including the one you mentioned. Get the Metra 95-8175B kit and install your head unit in place of the stock one. You can add 3,4 or 5 channel amps to power your speakers.
Nice clean car you have there, that was a nice find.

Default Replacing Audio System in Lexus SC400

Your install is pretty straight forward in the dash. Most brands of double dins will work fine. You will need to use an install kit, and wiring harness adapter.
A few ways you can go with this:

A) RCA outs on double din to RCA low level in adaptor plug to utilize the factory amp and speakers, or:
B) Standard wiring harness and bypass(remove) the factory amplifier and run the new radio internal speaker output amplifier to the existing speakers using existing wiring.
C) Keep factory amp and replace speakers after doing A
D) Remove factory amp and replace speakers after doing B
E) Go full out audiophile mode and replace radio using the simple harness adaptor, but run RCA, power, and remote turn on cables from radio to a aftermarket amp, then run high end speaker wires from your new amp all the way back into the factory locations for your new speakers almost completely avoiding the use of factory wiring or components.

I have done all of these methods with great results dependent on what the end goal expectations are.

The sponsor of this audio section Beat-Sonic is amongst the companies that make these conversion parts.

Good luck on your upgrades! You will really appreciate the improvements a double din Nav with bluetooth will allow you to have.
