Yeah, dump the piece of crap! I got a 1998 SC300 and I was forced to buy that stupid Mitsubishi (Mrs. bichi) 12 CD Changer. That $1200 piece of crap would skip while waiting at a traffic light, while the same CDs would later play no problem on my junky $75 Panasonic portable CD player., go figure. Sometimes you load in a new CD, and it it does not play, sometimes you have to try the eject button several times to get the thing to eject. And the worse part, since mine was a 1998, it does not play CDRs. My friends with later model Lexus cars like 2000, say theirs plays CDRs ok.

I had wanted to buy the Denon changer at that time for $400, a much more reasonable amount for a CD changer, but JM Lexus would not budge and told me to take it or not get the car. I dinged them on the customer sat for it.

Next time I won't get the car.

Luckily for me, JM Lexus replaced the unit twice for me the first month I owned the car, so now I'm on my third Mrs. Bichi CD changer. What comes around goes around. It still has issues once in a while, but why bother keep going back. I was really pissed though, that JM Lexus would not take that CD changer out of the car when I bought it and give me credit. What an overpriced piece of crap, the worst CD player I ever had, and still have to this day!

So if you want my advice, if your CD is not under warranty, dump the piece of crap, and go buy a real CD changer, you're quality of life will go way up.

funny...my 93 panasonic stock cd changer plays CDRs with no problem. I think the problem is in quality CDRs if anything.

Hello, anyone paying attention? The CDR plays on other CD players. It plays on my $75 portable CD player. It plays in my old 1997 Sony DVD player. It plays in my CD carousel upstairs. It plays in several coputers. It plays in everything but the Mitsubishi CD changer.

Default Hmmm

My 93 400 has the Matsu****a (Panasonic) 12 disk trunk mount player as well, and plays CD-R's without problems (except when going over a bump.... skip).

Since they seem to be talking about a Mitsubishi player, then that must be the issue. I did not know the SC was fitted with a Mitsubishi player.... learn something new everyday!
