Post dead OEM battery

What is wrong with the OEM batteries ? Mine was barely 3 years old and last week went dead. I recharged it and did not hold the juice at all; it was totally dead. Then I went and bought a red top Optima (725amps. 75/35 DT) on Pep-Boys for $105.00 . It came with a red plastic adapter about an inch thick which I`d snapped on to the bottom of the battery and it measured the same height of the original; I cut even put on the plastic cover that covers the whole battery from factory, because it have holders for the neg and pos cables on the sides and I wanted to use them, and the top metal holder, just like the original. There was nothing to modify , or bent, or cut at all. It came out beautiful. But am puzzled by this factory battery; Has anybody have the same short life problem ? I will assume that Lexus will have a better equipment to put on their cars. After all that, I checked the alt. and it was perfect; Just the battery was junk. Any way, this is to let everybody know that they can replace the OEM battery junk with a red or a yellow top Optima without any modifications at all. Josey 2000GS-400

almost 4 years now, my stock one is still good there are many factory effecting battery life: weather, high powered stereo, and most important, if you ever left your some of your light on over night....it's operator error most of the time that shorten the life of battery

I park my car in the garage, never left my lights or an accessory on, and didnt have an aftermarket stereo at the time...
Some of the batteries in the lexus last, but way too many fail way too fast (this topic has been discussed many times before also).

OEM Lasted 3 years.

What Optima to buy for my GS w/ aftermarket Stereo. Optima - Yellow Top
What model Number. D34 or to be exact D34/78/D750U
Where to get the cheapest price on the net. $135 http://www.batteryweb.com/optima.cfm
