Help With Email from iPhone 5 in 2013 RX 450h

Hi, All

I wonder if anyone can help me with the above issue.

I just got my 450h last week (

) and have been able to get my SMS working, but not email. I'm using an iPhone 5 running iOS 6.1.4. Based on other (older) threads I've read, it's my understanding that a lot of people were having issues with iPhones because it lacked support for the MAP protocol. iOS 6, however, does support MAP protocol and I am in fact able to get texts from my phone to the car, but emails don't even appear in the "Messages" screen in the RX.

Does anyone have any insight as to why emails would be an issue? BTW, I am using the native iOS mail app on my phone.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance!

That is interesting, because I cannot get the SMS to work at all. The button is never highlighted for me to press it. And I didn't know there was email option. Have you learned anything more?

Actually, neither iOS 6 or 7 support MAP in the way needed for the messaging and e-mail functions to work as described in the manual. You can get the system to read text messages from your iPhone, but you cannot reply at all, and the e-mail functions do not work. This is not a fault with Lexus, but a decision made by Apple...for their own reasons, the do not allow the full use of MAP.

This is solved in some 2014 Lexus models by the "eyes-free" Siri integration...Still tbd if they will enable that function in prior model years where the hardware will support it. This has been a topic of much discussion in the fourth generation GS forum.

To get the car to read back texts, there is a setting on the phone you have to set, but I cannot recall what it was...a search of the 4GS forums should find it.
