Default Factory Stereo problem (help please)

I have a 98 GS400 and I'm having a problem with the stereo that is intermittent and could use some help sorting it out. The volume will change from normal to full blast just by hitting a bump. I'm thinking I have a bad solder joint in the amp. Has anyone had this problem with your system and can shed some light on the problem? I hate just replacing the amplifier only to find out it was a simple fix or possibly not the amp as all, thus my enquiry. Thanks, David

sounds like a bad potentiometer in the volume know...it would be cheaper to replace it with an aftermarket unit than to repair it...UNLESS you have factory nav...

if you choose to fix it check out united radio

Yes it does have navigation so I would like to get it repaired if possible. I'll shoot them an email for a quote, thanks!
