I tried looking at that other LOC, and the website did not at all help...
For what you have now, you are using a fixed LOC. This would be wrong, unless you want to use some type of preamp/processor...
You could try going back to the other LOC if you are sure it is adjustable, and then troubleshoot from there.
The HU does not send "watts" as I think you are using the term. The HU sends a very low voltage signal to the amp, which is amplified. The LOC would normally go after the amp.
If you were to put an LOC after the HU, before the amp, I'm not sure what it would do, if anything.
If you were to put a line driver after the HU, before the amp, then it would boost the signal coming from the HU.
I would need to see a drawing of where you placed your LOC then. Clearly there is still some confusion between us (and the install). I can't explain why you would get a fixed output from an adjustable LOC...
From what I gathered if you put the LOC after the factory amp you get more distortion. And the amp is a Nakamichi PA-205. I had adjusted it with the other LOC with no change and I believe that one said it could handle 80(may have even been 85) watts. It is currently located between the factory HU and the factory amp.
But if this was the problem wouldn't I at last be able to turn the sub down? If I turn my radio down all the way then the factory stuff inside the car will be off but the sub will still be hitting.
Without hooking the things up correctly, I don't have any more suggestions...without the system being in front of me, I am at a loss, sorry!!!
If I were you, I'd ditch what I know to be a fixed LOC and get that other LOC (or an LOC that I know is variable) and hook it up after the amp (even though that amplifies distortion) since that is where an LOC should be.
If you want, you could get a line driver instead of an LOC and put the line driver where your current LOC is and see what happens then (this is what I'd do!!!).
No matter what you do at this point, unless you get some type of processor, that fixed output LOC won't do you any good.
Well the retards at the audio shops near me can't even do anything with it in front of them, I got further than they did but I am sure I have it hooked up correct other than the remote wire which I don't know what color it is. Most likely I will give up after another week or two and you are going to see it for sale in the classifieds.
