installing a sub and amp on the is350
hi guys
so i have been trying to install an amp and sub on the stock head unit.. it wasn't all that hard and i have most of it done.. the stock head unit doesnt have an rca output to send to my amp so i had to buy a converter and tap into the wires going into the stock amp and send the signal from there to my amp... i dont have a wiring diagram for the stock amp tho so didnt know what wires to cut.. i ended up cutting the speaker wires lol and it sends vocals thru the sub as well as the bass.. not what i needed.. embarrassing... so what my question is does anyone have any experience with this? what wires should i cut (im assuming the woofer wires), what colors are they and etc? Or any other way someone else might have done this? Thanks in advance!

If you're getting the full range playing on your subwoofer, then the easiest thing to do would to turn the low-pass filter (LPF) setting on your amplifier down to about ~100hz (or whatever floats your boat). That will filter out all the higher frequency waves like vocals. You can also just tap into the stock subwoofer wires if your amplifier doesn't have an LPF setting, but most, if not all, mono amps should have it.
