Default Percy or another audio guru....

I'm highly interested in a small system for my car a 99 GS 400. I was on the BMW forums and noticed some selling the following...so I need your opinions....:

JL 12W3 sub with plexibox with neon lighting and all wiring
-lanzar OptiDrive160Q 50*4W 4-ch amplifier Professional series

For $400

Also how will this sound.

Sounds like an alright deal, depending on the box. The sub sells for about 180 new, I the amp is in the same ballpark price wise. The enclosure could be worth 50-200 depending on what it has, if the glass has etching, what its covered in etc.
It would probably sound pretty good, W3s can get loud, but dont have the best SQ. Also, Lanzar isnt known for their high quality products, but Ive never used one of them. I would do it if the box fit well and the shipping was cheap, consider those things.

Lanzar is more of a "mid fi" product, imo, than anything else. The review on their Optidrive series was average to say the least. Distortion at 0.1% is anywhere from 10 to 20 times higher than most of the amps out there. Plus the channel seperation number of -50db is also average. Mc will do -90+ in real life applications. The lower the number (further away from zero), the lower the noise floor.

What are your goals?
