Question Navigation Lockout

I know this has been discussed before but I couldn't find any info I needed. My friend's dad just got an 02 Rx300 w/ navi. We were talking and I told him there was away to get it so the passenger could input the info while he drives. What do we (or a shop?) need to do. Also what effects will this have on the navi system? Thanks. Also would any one happen to know if for some reason the Navi DVD CD File images were online?

The speed sensor wire is probably located at different spots for each model, for example my LS430 speed pulse wire is at the multi-display (navi screen) while the IS is located in a cable harness (as noted on IS300.NET) message.

Does your method have any side affects? How long could the switch stay open before any thing bad happens. Also does this void any warrenties and stuff??

I would say a couple minutes?? I just flick the switch when I need to and then flick it back when I'm done. Then GPS usually seems to loose exact location when you hit the switch back to normal, but it comes back to the right location in about 10 seconds. I wouldn't worry about it if you are having second thoughts. As far as the warranty, I'm not sure.
