Default Running Power Cable

What's the best place to run power cable to the battery on a '90 LS 400?

Default Here's a thread the discusses that....

It deals with the SC, but it is very informative and many of the procedures covered will pertain to your car. Especially check out duB's web page (link in the thread)- he photographed the wire run:

Default Hmm...why recommend other threads when you can see MINE?

Actually, I just started another thread on the SC forum, where I posted several pics of my SC power cable install- maybe you'll get some ideas from that one, too:

Thumbs up Good info, Pete!

I was thinking of putting the fuse about 6" down the line from where it taps into the positive connector, but you say 18". I've heard that if you get too close, you risk getting that white "foamy"corrosion of the fuse area similar to what is seen on some positive post connectors, but I've never seen that happen in actual practice.

Any other reasons for your 18" preference?

actually my fuse is right on the terminal (I have one of those Optima covers) 6" is just fine...I actually need to change the 18" to 5" - 18".

Here's another option and what I did with my ES. You can run it underneath the car, in a sturdy conduit held to the frame rail with brackets; then going into the bottom of the trunk wherever you choose. This took about $20 worth of conduit, brackets, and a piece to go into the trunk from Home Depot. I preferred this idea to finding or drilling a hole to get 1/0 gauge through the firewall and trying to hide it under the carpet.

I've got to take some pictures and get my Sounddomain page going, it's easier to look at the pics than explain the exact things I used.

It might be a little excessive to run smaller power wire under the car, 4 guage would be much easier to get through the firewall and hide under the carpet; but I think it's a good option for 1/0. Just make sure you get some strong conduit and hang it well.
