So I got this JBL 1200 Grand Touring amp and hooked it all up to my system. At first we had to mess with the adjustments bass boost, cross freq, and input level because it kept going into protection. Now we can play a little higher volume but it was still go into protection and than back out of it. I have it hooked up to 2 12 kicker solo baric. Anyone know what could be wrong with it?
If it's going into protect, the load is too low for the amp. Setting the gain won't do it. You need to rewire the subs so that you're not going below what it can safely handle. I'm betting you have either DVC's (2 coils per sub) or 2 ohm subs. Either way, it's usually that they are wired too low for the amp. More info = more help.
Ouch. That sucks, but at least you got it fingered out. What makes you think it is bad? Smell? Crunchy to the touch?
Big Mack
well I turned it on and one sub was making a weird noise almost like a soft crunchy bass. I touched it and pressed it and no sounds so I figured it might be the middle logo loose and it looked painted on. So than I just disconnected both subs and turned everything higher and amp didn't go into protection. So than I connected each sub to see if they work and sure enough the right sub was out? I haven't taken the "bad" sub out yet. But hopefully its a loose wire that's grounding out. We'll see. But one kicker still hits hard enough
