OK , I have a 800 watt 12 inch pioneer sub which was powered by a 2 channel Alpine V12 600 watt amp which has died(long story).....now i need a new amp that will push that sub with no problem and not have to spend another $300.....Any Suggestions????
ok when you look at a sub it has 2 power rating peak watts and RMS peak is probally the 800 watts but RMS is usually more important. So depending on that I would get an amp, if you get a 800 watt amp you going to blow the sub, I would probally stick to something around 200-500 watt amp

Incorrect, assuming the quoted speaker rating is RMS watts. An amp should be sized to the speakers RMS power rating, assuming the amp has good peak power handling capability. For a good quality sub, an amp that has the same RMS power rating as the sub is appropriate. Usually you are not cranking to the limits anyway, at least not in the continuous sense.
