hey guys, i have a 93 LS400 non nak and its current sub is this, 8" 2 Ohm sub, 40 watts RMS. im thinking about replacing it but dont know much about audio stuff so i was hoping someone could point me into a direction where i can get some oomph. budget is probably around 100-300 bucks, thanks in advance.
Just replacing the sub will not give you any more "oomph". In fact, you may have less output. Most of the better subs on the market are high excursion models. One of the drawbacks of high excursion is a lack of sensitivity. That means it takes more power to have the same output as a more sensitive sub. If you are going to upgrade, you need to upgrade both the sub and the amp that drives it.
No. I told you the potential pitfalls of not getting an amp. Adding an amp is a decision you need to make with the information you have.

So now you want us to pick an amp and driver for you? Other than a budget, what are your requirements? Because someone's "oomph" is someone else's "that really sucks". At least give us an idea of what your expectations.
