Double DIN LCD Install?
I have an appointment on Monday to have a shop possibly install an Eclipse AVN5435.
I know it's double DIN like most all LCD Screens. I know that our space for the install is a little larger than the standard double DIN size. The guy at the shop was asking what I wanted to do with the rest of the space or how I wanted it to look.
So I come here for ideas. What did you guys/gals do? How does it look? Thoughts or recommendations? Ideas? Things NOT to do?
If you have pictures...all the better

Sorry. Just got your PM. I have the AVN5435 and like what Baoser said the shop that installed mine made a 1/2 Din CD pocket. Also I had to buy an amplifier to use the stock sub otherwise you wont be able to use your stock sub because the stock amp doesn't work with the AVN5435.
Where in Cali are you?

Edit here is another pic, I brought it back to make them push it in to make it more flush. You'll notice in the first pic it sticks out a little...

Off topic but where you are on your navigation is like 2 miles from my work...

I was actually looking at the Eclipse AVN5435 for my friends F150 today, that's a very nice unit...

I too am interested in where that trim piece came from--
I'm pretty confident I can get a double din unit to fit, I just wouldn't mind getting my hands on a trim piece like the one you've got.
IF you don't know exactly, could you tell me the name and location of the shop that did it for you??
I will call them myself and find out if I need to--
Thanks man--
Both installs look good by the way!!
The screen is a nice upgrade, and In my opinion it belongs there from the factory-- I don't understand why they stripped ours down so much and badged it as a luxury brand of the original--

personally i'd hate to see the quality of a navigation from 1992
after looking at the centered unit it makes me want to do that to mine once i get it back from eclipse
...new products = new problems...

I am up in Sacramento.
Thanks for the update on that chanh55. That is the first I have heard of not being able to use the Sub without an aftermarket amp. I am gonna have to look more into that.
I will prolly end up with just a black plastic to take the extra space. I am not a big fan of extra pockets and holders in the car, just more space to clean and for $*^# to collect.

I personally constructed the trim ring using 1/4" MDF and a router table. I use templates to create the outer size as well as an inner double DIN hole to route out the inside. After a little sanding, it's primered a couple of coats and then painted "Satin Black". The radio is set back and down on the SC400 factory stereo brackets, which means you need to drill new mounting holes on the bracket.
I'll try and see if I have any pics of the build and post later.
