For Percy, the sound guru or others
Hey guys,
I was just thinking, what would be a good setup for switching out my stock speakers and just making my sound quality better, like when i turn it a lil louder than normal, i never blast my music. I listen to mostly R&B, hip hop, so it's not like classical music clear. I know you love dynaudio speakers right?

What's your budget? Are you going to install it yourself?
The equipment Percy recommends aren't cheap...but well worth it in my opinion and is about as good as it gets.

Your 4" speakers will not sound real good for the kind of music you listen. I would do a conversion from 4" to 6.5". Bigger speakers are easier to make sound better with rap and they would blend with subs much better.

Good Advice
Nav - Retro's advice is excellent ( or at least move up to 5.25" components ). If U want the easiest ( drop in ) upgrade, just upgrade the factory 4" speakers ( choose from Polk, Infinity Kappa or even better quality Pioneers - not much to choose from in the 4" size ). Another discovery/problem that Anh ( BananaGS ) & I found is that the front 4" speakers R 2 ohm while the rears run into 4 ohms. Might mean the need for a bigger ( read, better ) amp. Might want to look at www.crutchfield.com at what they offer in terms of 4" components & coaxials.

How come the fronts are only 2 Ohm, i thought they were all 4 ohm like other good sound systems, guess this isn't such a great system after all. I just wanna see what a really good sound system sounds like, not a sound system only people with great ears can hear but everyone can here. I really have no budget but i wanna try to keep it as low as possible.

Front Speakers
Albert - Best GUESS on the impedance difference is so that the lower 2 ohm front speakers will be louder than the 4 ohm rears ( since most of the time the main passengers R in the front ). The factory amp's really wimpy - think we figured maybe 20 wrms going to each of the 6 individual drivers & the remaining 40 watts ( in the 160 watt Pioneer system ) running the 2 ohm 10" sub. Not sure but reckon these amp power ratings R for 4 ohm loads so that means the 4" drivers in the front doors would be getting 40 wrms & the sub 80 wrms ( 2 ohm impedance & using Ohm's Law ). Really don't know because I pulled out the factory stuff the next day after taking delivery of the GS & started on my system so I didn't experiment with that junk. Threw the speakers away & sent the amp to another Member whose amplifier burned out!
BTW - I remember ya from the old EZBoard dayz so welcome back & congratulations on the GS Forum Moderator position!
