Yeah... I Went to circuit city yesterday...and he said that he wouldnt be able to do anything about my dash??? he says that lexus's are complicated n stuff..
and he said that i wouldnt be able to change the cd changer either..cause for some reason its EXTREMELY slow for me to change cd's and/or songs in my car...
so i was just wondering what you guys did...since you guys are OBVIOUSLY more knowledgeable than me
Hmmm, iv'e heard circuit city doesnt do too good of jobs on rides. Granted i believe i had them install my previous headunit and it was fine (that was in a maxima), but if they claim its too hard for them, then stay clear of them.
Its more than possible to change out your stock CD-Changer and Headunit, lots of people on here have done it.
circuit city and best buy suck hot monkey ***** when it comes to installs. they have no clue what they are talking about. my changer is slow too i guess cuz i have burned cds. but im just waiting on getting a 80GB IPOD so i can use that instead of having cds.

If kietlander can tie his shoes and order a Happy Meal then he's one step ahead of most of these big box installers. Having been an installer for over 16 years, I get a little scared when I am tending to a CC install.
That said, the Sc's are somewhat complicated when it comes to installing stereos (to the average dude). Usually I recommend replacing the deck, amplifier and speakers to eleviate any potential compatability issues. Replacing all of the speaker wires is recommended as well and its a great upgrade. If you have any specific questions, feel free to PM me!

If you want to simply add a changer and keep your stock head unit (since there is not an aftermarket mounting plate readily available) then just get any changer you wish with an FM modulator and remote.

That's one way to do it, but there's a sound quality penalty. FM is rolled off intentionally at 15kHz, and there's a linearity hit. The analog FM processing circuits are crappy next to the CD digital processing circuit. But yeah, it's an alternative if you don't have a better one.
