Question Mod to DVD Nav to play normal DVDs?

I have a 2002 GS430 and I was wondering if anyone knows who/where I can get information on modifying the Mark Levinson DVD navigation system to play normal DVDs? I know hack/mod is available for the first generation GS, but I haven't heard anything about being able to modify/hack the 2nd Gen DVD system?

Also, if you've done it or heard about it being done, are there any problems or issues I should worry about?

Any help would be great.

Thanks - pf9030

i'm gonna have this done.. it's just some unit that you can purchase and installed so that your navigation screen will act as a dvd player screen.. my brother recently got it done on his '05 TL and no problems.. works great i'm not doin' mine til after i get my headers and do some smaller things first.. then gotta save up for that and an alarm :-D good luck though.. when i get on my computer i'll post a link where they sell the units..

Buy the unit and then do your own installation, you'll save about $700. Excuse the cassette adaptor, I'm still working on hardwiring the audio.....

Was it hard to install yourself? What do you have to do with the wiring for the sound?

I was going to hardwire it but it's just as simple (and louder) to run a cassette adaptor (I never plan on putting a cassette in there) to whatever you are going run and just hit 'tape' The sound wire is currently hidden under the nav and will soon be running behind the glove box.. (Right now I have a portable DVD player under the passenger seat but I have a slim PS2 that I'm going to put in the glove, just haven't taken the time out to get back in there). Installation (now that we have the wiring diagram) should be less than an hour, you're cutting four wires (the hardest part is taking a pair of wire cutters to your nav harness).

The store is on 77th St in Canarsie.

Tex, I'm going to see if I still have it, give me some time. We downloaded it from that $10 per day site (sorry I can't think of the link off the top of my head) and I know GSoup saved it on his computer but he's in LA right now on vacation.

I already put him on the case but it's worth the $10 to register on the site and download all the GS430 stuff you can to keep for later use.
