Default Need Help Installing Pioneer Avic N1

I have the 02 GS 300, Im keeping my stock speakers and the factory amp. I need to know what type of wiring kit for the stock amp do I need. I know I can bypass the amp but I dont want to do that. Do any of you have pics of the type of wiring kit for the amp I need. I tried the wiring kit that has the RCA but that doesnt work.

The factory amp is too integrated with the head unit. You pretty much have to bypass it.

you should take it to a professional installer so they can figure this out. i know someone who has an avic-d1 with stock speakers on their gs400.

And a professional install shop won't be able to get the stock amp to work with the aftermarket head unit either. So they'd have to bypass it as well.

I think that the avic pushes same power if not more than the stock amp. Just bypass it and forget about it.

run wires from the head unit or aftermarket amp directly to the speakers.

may I recommend a professional installation for you.

i think everyone is saying forget about the stock amp and use the headunit to power up your stock speakers. the headunit has it's own built in amp that is equal or better than the stock GS amp.

I have a 98 GS400, but the previous owner took out the factory amp. Can anyone tell me where the factory amp goes/ installed, or should i take it to a shop?

The amp in my GS was up in the dash on the passenger side. I believe it's different if you have the NAV system. But what are you asking the question for?

It depends on the system you have. I had Pioneer in mine and the amp was behind the glove box like AZ-GS300 indicated but on my wife's car, it is a 98 and had the Nakamichi system. This system has the amp in the trunk on the passenger side under the mat. I did use the factory amp in that install and it sounds and works pretty good. If you have this type of setup, PM me and I can send you a PDF with details on how I integrated the factory amp. It was not possible on the Pioneer setup that was in my 02 and like others have recommended, I bypassed it. Actually I rewired the whole system running 12 guage double insulated speaker wires from the trunk to each speaker, 5 pair of RCA cables from the trunk to the head unit and power cables from the battery to the head unit and trunk. I don't use anything from the factory system at all. It was a lot of work but I am happy with it.

Thats NOT true, your factory amp has inputs just like an aftermarket amp, just because they arent rca jacks doesnt mean you can't interface an aftermarket rca output to them. All you have to do is take a set of rca's plug them into the preout's of your aftermarket radio (front and rear) cut the ends off the other side of the rca's, find which wire is which going into the amp. (FR + FR -, FL + FL -, etc...) and wire accordingly. At that point you have a preamp level input into your factory amplifier and all is well

I guess that may depend on which unit you have. The factory Pioneer stereo sends out a left and right audio signal to the amplifier in the GS models. The amplifier is also the signal processing unit and has the front and rear controls within it. Also, all audio signals from the stock CD changer go directly to the amplifier/processor. Nothing from the changer goes to the head unit period.

So, if you took all the audio signals from the head unit, you'd have only the stuff that comes out of the radio and tape player. No CD signals would be present. And you'd only have left and right controls (maybe). You would NOT have front and rear fader options.
