Default Any reason to upgrade Levinson?

I have an 01 300 w/ Levinson package.

To the audiophiles amongst us, how good is this sytem in your opinion?

If you had $1500 or so to do any changes, what would you do?

I'm looking for a bit more bass response, I'm pretty satisfied with mids and highs, however, I'm no audiophile so my ear isn't the most reliable judge.

If anyones partial to brands, feel free to list.

***The only ML equipped system that I've listened to and actually liked was the one in the LS430. That was due to imaging but the sound quality tended to be "in your face" at times due to the HLCD (horn loaded compression drivers) they were using.

If you had $1500 or so to do any changes, what would you do?
***Swap the speakers! The electronics are good but it's the midwoofers and titanium tweeters that I have a problem with. The titaniums are a bit on the harsh side (as are all the titaniums I've listened to) and the midwoofers are a bit muddy. A simple speaker swap will do wonders for that system. I recommend Dynaudio speakers HIGHLY. http://www.dynaudiona.com

***More bass as in sound quality or sound quantity? If the system is no holds barred for sound quality and if you didn't have a spending limit (those are fun!) then I would recommend the Velodyne DF12SC or Velodyne DF10SC in a heartbeat. Only problem is that these are exceptionally scarce and they build these on a pre order/prepaid basis at Velodyne. You can't buy these from dealers anymore as they're not selling them. But, they are the ULTIMATE in sound QUALITY. Actively controlled servo subwoofer. Yes, you also have to buy a seperate 300 watt amp to push the bugger with! NONE BETTER in terms of subwoofer sound QUALITY.

Guys,

thanks for the valuable input.

Percy.

The additional bass would be for sound quality, the current 10" is a bit muddy at times. I'm not looking to win any sound contests.

Again, thanks guys.
