Default subwoofer Placment on 98+GS

I was wondering what would be the best way to place the Subwoofers ( 2 12" alumapro alchemy ) for a good SQ setup. Ive heard that people have done it so the trunk doesnt rattle anymore. Right now I have 2 12" Pioneer Premeirs facing the trunk lid and it rattles like crazy. So should I have them face the trunk lid, or the rear seats, or the rear deck ( where my stock 10" sun was taken out so I have a 10" hole there ).

Default Up

Biggie - I've experimented with my sub placement ( albeit w/o an SPL meter ) & it seems like the best SQ comes from firing them upwards. I'd open up the stock 10" to allow more of the bass wave into the cabin & also consider some Dynamat for the deck after U cut it. It FEELS like there's more pressure when the subs R fired into the trunk but even with the trunk lid, license plate, etc Dynamatted things still seemed to rattle.
