Before I get into this project I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on where to hide the brain of my Kenwood KVT-911DVD? It looks a bit cramped in there from the pics I've seen and I need some options because the module looks fairly large that I need to disguise. Any comments would be appreciated.
yup the kvt-911 does not have a small brain. you can try somewhere behind the glove box or something like that, that tends to be a popular place. or somewhere in a kick panel. make sure it's somewhere that if you have to remove it...it's not going to take forever and a day to get to.
I know my first hope is behind the glovebox but I dunno. I wasn't sure how much room there actually was underneat the seat with all the power seat motors and such though.

You could simply test mount the brain under the seat by sliding it under the seat before running any wire.
Did some poking and proding around last night. Behind the radio looks impossible. Under the glove box is a no-go without modification. Under the seats it barely fits (rubbing?) but I'm worried about blocking the floor vents for rear passengers. Poked around the glove box but didn't completely remove it yet. Definitely going to be interesting.

If you do decide to mount it under the front seats, plug up the vents w/ some duct tape, or stuff a sock in there.

Vin for some reason I got a huge chuckle when I read that. Hehe
Anyhow you can try that, but under the passenger seat isn't a bad idea. That's where I mounted my KVT-910 which is the exact same thing as yours only black.
Here's a link to my install (where Vin helped me with some good advice as well)
Let me ask you, will you be installing the DSP unit as well (the other 5.1 Channel Box KDS-p901 or the KDS-p900?) You'll need it if you want to unlock all the audio controls and 5.1 channel sound. I got mine off Ebay for cheap (100) and mounted mounted it under the driver seat. Ran the cords through the door seems, under the passenger bench around the where the brain is under the passenger seat and everything is fine. Only thing is, plan to have plenty of wires under that passenger bench especially if you're installing amps for your speakers and sub. I also added the KNA-dv2100 navi so that adds to the wires under the chair as well!
Looks good, ti. Don't suppose you have a pic of under the seat do you? I'm thinking the ES may have more room but I'm still curious what it looks like.
If you are mounting in the GS I mounted my processor for the alpine in a vertical position where the old amp was. In ever so slightly protruded into the kickpanel.
