Default programming a key on a 92 sc300

I have a 1992 SC300 with the one button on the side of the key. Ive been trying the format that was listed for the 1995 SC300 but it's not working. Anyone have any idea if the format is the same for both years?

you also need the receiver that matches the key.

I understand the fix for this ends up costing more using Lexus parts than having a custom aftermarket keyless system installed. Figure $200-300, but it would be even better than stock.

The keychain style from the later SC's is not compatible with our cars.

My button key only works when you get right next to the antenna even with a new battery. Pretty useless. I just do it the old-school way and slide the key in the door and turn it, twice when my girl is along.

Good luck on this.
