Default question re removing GS tweeter

Okay. I got the tweeter cover off and can't seem to figure out how the tweeter is mounted. Does it snap on? I can't seem to find a screw. Thanks.

Remove the door panel...it's behind the black trim area. You'll find a 10mm bolt holding the assembly.

Thanks, Percy.

So I'm between Dynaudio and Boston Acoustics. As I'm conducting more research, what specs am I looking for? The easiest swap will be 5 1/4s, right? Do I need to be concerned with any other parameters -- watts, ohms, etc.?

easiest drop in swap would be a 4 inch round. Anything larger will need customization. Watts, ohms, etc shouldn't really be a concern...just be sure you have lots of wattage handy.

Give both the BA and Dyns a listen. Then decide from there.

Thanks, Percy. I thought I read somewhere that the front door speakers were 5 1/4. It's all the same to me. So, I'll check out 4" round component speakers in the Dyn and Boston and make a decision. And, yes, I am just looking to drop the new ones in. Is there a big difference between 4 and 5 1/4. I don't mind a little customization (I've read about creating your own cabinet out of MDF), but if it's not that big of a difference, then the 4 will dome just fine. I'm just looking to get better sound with a little more bass, that's all. Hopefully, this switch will accomplish just that. Thanks for all your help.

Dyns come in 5.25 and 6.5 (they call it a 7 though). BA's...not sure. The only "drop in" that I know of would be the MBQ.

Going from 4 to 5.25 makes a difference. Going from 4 to 6.5 makes ALOT of difference. Well worth the larger speaker size.

Thanks, Percy. What's an "MBQ"?

Also, it's not that hard to build a custom "cabinet" for the 5 1/4, right? I suppose if I'm taking the time to switch out the speakers, maybe I should invest a little more time and build one (I think Darius has a good post on this).

Am I going to hear a difference from the stock 4" to a BA 4", assuming they make one?

MBQ = MB Quart. http://www.mbquart.com Lots of hype on their titanium tweeter.

Aftermarket 4 vs stock 4...a bit of difference. Not as drastic as going from a 4 to a 6.5 though.

Percy -- one last question. Assuming I go with an aftermarket 4 or 5.25 speaker, will the stock amp be sufficient to power them at most reasonable volumes?

How far do you have to crank the dial now to listen to the system? You'll lose about 1/2 the volume when going to aftermarket since the stock fronts are 2 ohms. Aftermarkets are 4 ohms.
