Default Quick question regarding removing door panels on GS

Okay guys. I've looked at at least a few dozen threads and can't seem to find the info I'm looking for. I want to replace my front door speakers. I think I've figured out how to remove the door panels, but what about the tweeter covers? Do those just pop off once the door panel comes off?

Also, if I decide to replace the door speakers with coaxial as opposed to component speakers, is it possible to keep the factory tweeter working or does it need to be turned off?

The tweeter covers come off by pulling them STRAIGHT BACK toward the rear of the car. Be gentle but firm, they have plastic tabs holding them in (they can be broken). Once you get the first one off, it will be obvious. They do not come off with the door panel.
The problem you have with what you're proposing is the crossover frequencies. You need to retain the highpass filter that's in the plastic enclosure for the separate (upper) tweeter so that it's not getting mids, etc. If you're just replacing the 4" speakers and keeping the enclosures, then just connect the new 4" to the wires and see what you get. The orig tweeter will still work because it's connected to the stock amp thru the plastic enclosure. Once you get the door panel off, you'll see...

Thanks engin_ear. I assume I will get better results by replacing with component speakers?
