Question 1998 SC 400 - CD/MP3 Player

I recently bought a 1998 SC 400, I love this car! The sound system is great, but I'd like to be able to play CD/MP3 through the system. Right now, I am using a cassette adapter to play MP3's from my portable unit.

I'd like to swap out the CD changer for one that plays both CD/MP3 formats and leave the reciever alone. I've looked around on the web and haven't found anything at all for my car. Even tried emailing the techs Crutchfield.com, but no response.

Looking for some advice.

Thanks,

Scott

taken from experience, installing an aftermarket Cd changer in the SC is a huge PITA but it can be done.

I'm in the same boat as you and was looking at these: http://www.cardomain.com/shoptype/Ad...-Disc+Changers
Rip from the description: Multi-disc CD changers designed to interface with a factory receiver using a direct connection or FM modulation.
Seems like we're limited to those 4-5 brands...I'm liking that sony mp3 changer. I'll be doing the same thing as you and running in through the stock unit, but I'm trying to avoid using an FM modulator due to degradation in SQ.
