Default Power antenna question

Just wondering if the power antenna assembly in our cars can be replaced with one off of any Toyota/Lexus vehicle. Has anyone tried this or know if it'll work?

Someone yanked my mast and when they pulled it off, took the nylon cord that attaches to it too, so it looks like the entire assembly/motor has to be replaced (dealer cost $450) F*^%%& haters

Thanks man. I am keeping an eye over there but so far no joy.

My question was just that if the power antenna assembly in our cars can be replaced with one off of any Toyota/Lexus vehicle. If any Toyota vehicle is compatible I can get one right away from the junkyard.

Hey, if they pulled the nylon cord with the mast then you should be able to just buy a new mast and be all set. The nylon cord is supposed to come out with the mast. If it doesn't, that's when you would have to pull apart the motor to get the broken nylon peices out. Even that's not that difficult to do.

Thanks. I'll ask my mechanic and look around for a mast w/cord. I hope it's as simple as that

Default This worked for mine.

I bought this on eBay a few months ago. It was easy to install and fit perfectly on my SC400.

Hey Arrakis, I JUST bought that last night after seeing it on Ebay. Only just saw your reply too.

How did you get it spooled onto the motor and was it easy? This thread might be a good reference later on for someone who the same problem down the line. Thanks man

P.S. sorry about your car/accident...I know how it feels

Hey SC300n00b,

Your antenna will come with all the instruction you will need. I wish I have kept it because if I did, I could scan and upload the image for all our fellow members to see. Perhaps you can do that when you received it. Anyway, the instruction is extremely simple. The cumbersome part for me was due to my old nylon cord being broken and I had to take apart the motor underneath the antenna to remove it., but then again it was not difficult at all. Yes indeed, I am still hurting for my ex-SC but I am getting very close to finding her alternate. Just got to keep my fingers crossed.

Thanks. I'm hoping I don't have pieces stuck in the motor, but like you said it probably won't be too much work. Also I will scan and put up the instructions here in case someone runs into this problem in the future.
Good luck finding a new SC...these cars are definitely worth it
