I have used the search and have not found what i am looking for.

I want to upgrade my head unit for my stereo on my 90 ls 400. What I really want is a cd player. I want it to look clean and (i know I might be dreaming) stock. I am going to replace my speakers, adding some, and a 12 sealed in the trunk.

What are my options?
Please help.


Also the lights that light up the A/C controls are out. just some not all. Also I need to replace the LCD for the clock and A/C. Does anyone know where I can get these parts and how to go about replacing them.

I regards to the head unit, not many head units are gonna look stock, except for IMO a nice fold out screen which is gonna run u more than a simple CD player HU. about the lights out, PM OLT and he can give you some GOOD advice about dash LEDs and may be able to replace them for you (not gonna put words in the man's mouth). Shoot him a PM and see what he can do for you.

Ok this is what I want to do..

I want to buy a stereo from a shop and put it in. Does someone make a faceplate to fill in the hole it will make in the dash when the stock unit is removed. Is there a mounting kit?

If not what has everyone else done. I could make one out of some cherry ply and stain it to match the doors.

any ideas.

Metra makes one for the GS. It only cost $28.95 from installer.com Don't bother visiting Metra (metraonline.com) it isn't listed on their web site.

It's model Number is 99-8152.

It perfect if you want to add a FlipScreen DVD player/AV monitor and keep the clean factory look. If you add a Nav unit later you can cut out the bottom or just put the nav unit in the trunk.

This is what I have planned for late 2004-2005.

How do I remove the old head unit?

is this the same way to get access to the LEDs for the a/c?

is Lexus the only place to purchace a new LCD for the A/c?
