question on line - convertors
I need some direction on upgrading my stock system from you audio buffs.
I got a 1991 LS400 with the premium Pioneer system:
I just bought a Clarion 4 channel amp to replace the stock amp and another amp given to me by a friend.
I want to keep my stock HU and replace the stock sub, sub amp, and speaker amp.
My question is what kind of line convertor do I need to run from cables from the HU to the new Clarion amp powering teh speakers?
Would I need a 4 channel and a 2 channel convertor for the new speaker amp and new sub amp?
Also where is the stock speaker amp on the 1991 LS400?
I appreciate any help

The Audiolink one is a two channel LOC so you would need one for the sub amp and two more for the 4 channel amp for a total of three LOC's. You can also get a 4 channel LOC for the 4 channel amp and a 2 channel LOC for the sub amp. Just get enough LOC's to handle the number of channels you will be running. Be sure to get a good quality LOC. Audiolink is a good one and the one I recommend and use myself on my RX300 system.

Hey Jeremy, what's up?
Remember when I asked YOU this question? I asked this question a couple months ago and JEremy was the one that answered. I'll see if I can find that post, very detailed
EDIT: Okay, found it!

The Audiolink is a PASSIVE device, and looks like the Boss one is too. The Audiolink uses good quality transformers. Can't speak for the Boss or Scosche. Just stay away from any that have power inputs to them, they'll be more susceptible to noise.

This is the 4 channel LOC description that I am considering
{
SLC-4
Accepts 80 watts per channel. Can be used as a 4-channel line-out converter to add an amplifier to any existing car stereo or add low level outputs to any car stereo with speaker level outputs only. Can also be used to interface an aftermarket car stereo to either JBL/Premium Sound systems or BOSE audio systems. Transformer circuit for noise cancellation. Also is a common ground adapter.
}
I guess i'll go with this and buy an audio link 2channel for the subwoofer
