Now that it has been out for 4+ years now do you guys recommend the LC500 if I am looking to buy and keep for 5-10+ years? I just want a FUN and RELIABLE ride, that is not going to cripple me with repair bills.

Why not just look thru the forum posts yourself?!? Or better yet subscribe to Consumer Report.

I've put 10,000 miles on my 2021(performance) coupe since taking delivery in September and it's been solid as a rock. Usually I wouldn't respond with it being so new but truthfully I've got more miles than many who have had the car for years. 😁

I've owned a lot of Lexus vehicles and the build quality of the LC 500 is on a whole other level. I highly recommend.

I'm keeping mine forever and am attempting to literally put a million miles on her.

My 2018 just turned 20,000 today. As AirForce8 states - Rock Solid. I have even tracked mine a few times and still no issues. Read the posts here, Almost unanimously all owners love their LC.

I've been here the better part of 3 years and don't recall anything very negative or serious being discussed on the forum.

as one recently observed, our cars are built like a tank, and actually engineered to be capable of high performance, safely

So while this luxury sport coupe is likely the MOST reliable out of all the competitors in its segment.....please please please be mindful that this is still a VERY high end product from a luxury brand with small production numbers, bespoke designs/materials, and fewer shared parts bin with other cars.

The MSRP is over $100,000 and it is a car...made by humans..(not an infinity stone...)..and overtime rubbers and gaskets and things can and WILL break. They will break LESS than a German/American competitor..but it is a car nonetheless. And over 10 years it WILL likely need some big repairs...and given it is a very limited production, high-level built car with bespoke components and many of them may not be shared with other Toyota platforms...the cost of maintaining this WILL be more expensive than a cheaper sports coupe.

Please be aware of the cost of owning such a vehicle....yes Lexus is incredible in reliability and costs will be less than comparable than other cars...but please do not mistake this to mean that it will be "cheap" to own this car over 10 years.

There was the fuel pump issue shared with many Toyota motors.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/lc-...n-2019-lc.html

Our first LC had this, stalled out in a bad place a couple of times. But it was dealt with extremely well by Lexus. Had the car back in a day from dealership an hour away.

I feel I could take off for Alaska right now, no reservations.

MinhDo - besides the fuel pump issue on early ones, i haven't read of ANY issues that multiple people are having.

it's a complicated car, but one that has clearly been painstakingly refined and tested. While the 2018's are great, i always feel that each year likely brings some tweaks and refinements for so the newer the better.

These cars are put together by the most qualified Lexus employees the company can find. Reliability is the least of your concerns.

re. a member's recent experience with a loosened strut: hard to understand this occurring on its own, free of outside agency...

Oh my. A loosened strut? No telling what the car went through to cause it.

it was a used vehicle.... it might be that someone got in there and monkeyed around. in light of the comments re. LC build quality in this thread,
imho, it seems unlikely an internal strut at this location (see diagram relating to this issue) could loosen on its own.

Really? Either answer the man’s question or move on. He’s asking the forums for a reason. Consumer Report isn’t the same as asking the owners. 🤦‍♂️

My 2018 had problems with third rear brake light assembly and while it was replaced, it had to be replaced a second time. The brake pads were replaced because of low speed squeal and now even the replacement non performance pads squeal. Fuel pump had to be replaced on recall. So, I agree. It is man made and not perfect.
The ten speed transmission annoyingly “hunts” for the right gear. The lack of low end torque is a disappointment.
