How is reliability now that the LC500 have been out for a while?
Now that it has been out for 4+ years now do you guys recommend the LC500 if I am looking to buy and keep for 5-10+ years? I just want a FUN and RELIABLE ride, that is not going to cripple me with repair bills.
I've owned a lot of Lexus vehicles and the build quality of the LC 500 is on a whole other level. I highly recommend.
I'm keeping mine forever and am attempting to literally put a million miles on her.

The MSRP is over $100,000 and it is a car...made by humans..(not an infinity stone...)..and overtime rubbers and gaskets and things can and WILL break. They will break LESS than a German/American competitor..but it is a car nonetheless. And over 10 years it WILL likely need some big repairs...and given it is a very limited production, high-level built car with bespoke components and many of them may not be shared with other Toyota platforms...the cost of maintaining this WILL be more expensive than a cheaper sports coupe.
Please be aware of the cost of owning such a vehicle....yes Lexus is incredible in reliability and costs will be less than comparable than other cars...but please do not mistake this to mean that it will be "cheap" to own this car over 10 years.

There was the fuel pump issue shared with many Toyota motors.

Our first LC had this, stalled out in a bad place a couple of times. But it was dealt with extremely well by Lexus. Had the car back in a day from dealership an hour away.
I feel I could take off for Alaska right now, no reservations.

MinhDo - besides the fuel pump issue on early ones, i haven't read of ANY issues that multiple people are having.
it's a complicated car, but one that has clearly been painstakingly refined and tested. While the 2018's are great, i always feel that each year likely brings some tweaks and refinements for so the newer the better.

it was a used vehicle.... it might be that someone got in there and monkeyed around. in light of the comments re. LC build quality in this thread,
imho, it seems unlikely an internal strut at this location (see diagram relating to this issue) could loosen on its own.

My 2018 had problems with third rear brake light assembly and while it was replaced, it had to be replaced a second time. The brake pads were replaced because of low speed squeal and now even the replacement non performance pads squeal. Fuel pump had to be replaced on recall. So, I agree. It is man made and not perfect.
The ten speed transmission annoyingly “hunts” for the right gear. The lack of low end torque is a disappointment.
