Default Exterior / Under carriage lighting

So I was trying to find info on this topic, but I noticed this on the weekend. I was parked somewhere with no street lights, usually on cars there is some sort of under carriage lighting or lighting on the handles when you walk up to the car. But with my LC500 I couldnt find any options through the menu. Does anyone any any insight on this by chance?

The more I research it says it comes standard.

"Proximity approach lighting." I guess my question would be does it not work when the mirrors are folded in? If not that that would explain it because I have the option selected where the mirrors fold in when locked.

Angry bummer

Didn't pay too much attention to this, but I had the impression that the lc lacked what I called the "hello" light that I have on my RX. But, seeing your query, I went to my garage to test it. The mirrors were unfolded (car unlocked) and didn't see any light as I approached. I shut off the overhead garage lights and tried again in absolute darkness. One time when I was so close I brushed the door, some interior lights came on, but nothing on several other approaches. It bothers me because that "hello" light can be quite useful at times, and is actually a safety feature.

I’m not sure myself how its suppose to work on this car because since the door handles have that stream line design it took me a while of feeling around just to open them. But once I had the handle popped open the ambient lighting came on.

The only lights that automatically illuminate when the key is detected in close proximity to the vehicle are some of the interior lights. They are not very bright at all from the outside, especially if you have tinted glass. However, there are "puddle-style" lights in the outside door handles which are more useful for illuminating the exterior door area. But - these only illuminate when you unlock the vehicle with the remote key. They do not automatically illuminate by a proximity sensor. The amount of time they remain on is customizable. Or you can just hit the unlock button again if they go off too soon. It's all in the manual.

Ok after having the run around I just decided to call the Lexus dealership and the cooperate office.

Talked to a "specialist" at the dealership and they said that the car doesnt have any exterior lighting options... I was blown away by this because it clearly says illuminated entry, interior and exterior on the cars brochure. http://www.lexus.com/models/LC/technology

After all that I ended up talking to someone at lexus cooperate to actually find the correct answer. She said that the car needs to be brought to the dealership to enable this feature. So after all that Im just going to bring it to the dealership next week to do it. I was going anyways to have them disable the reverse beeping and get my car detailed.

Let us know what you learn. I've read through the manual fairly thoroughly, and the only exterior lighting I know of - only illuminates when you unlock the doors. This would be the DRL, taillights, and door handle lights. No exterior proximity-triggered lighting.

Ill keep you guys updated. I mean I cant get a straight answer from anyone it seems. Almost like valet mode, probably should make a thread for this topic but regardless I asked what this does because in GM / AMG products this disables the cars power, paddles, throttle response and certain gears from being used. Apparently in our cars when its activated it just locks the navigation screen. heh

Here is the PDF of the LEXUS Personalize Settings or LPS for the 2018 LC500. Which includes VERY LIMITED exterior lighting options.
https://www.lexus.com/documents/broc...navigation.pdf
Some you can change with the Navigation System, others must be done at the Dealer or with Techstream if you have the software.
