Default Rock Cracked my Windshield

Anyone with experience having their LC windshield replaced? Rock hit the top of the windshield and has now cracked down about 5 inches and across about 5. This is the first damage to my MY2023 convertible and just wondering if anyone has any tips or caveats. I have found a body shop that did the repairs on my LS awhile back. Seems straight forward, but just throwing this out there. Thanks for any help.

I had mine replaced at Lexus. They farmed it out....but gave me a loaner.

Just a windshield....easy replacement, amigo.

I used to swear by safelite, much like Discount Tire, but my last 2 experiences with Safelite left much to be desired.

A whistling sound at highway speeds bc they didnt apply adhesive evenly across the top. Different techs, on two different cars with cracked glass requing replacement, same result.

Sorry to hear this. Used Safelite twice quite a few years ago with good outcomes. Certainly quality can vary year-to-year and physical location-to-location. If I felt better using an independent local shop, I'd find which the most reputable bodyshop or highend dealer contracts.

Maybe try to be on site for the leak testing
My Gen 2 NSX had a windshield replacement (dealer and subbed out) and it leaked during the first rain after I got it back
Had to go back in for some additional sealing and has been fine for the last 6 plus years

Do you have Heads up display? If so that’s a special windshield and it’s expensive.

Good lord, good information. Just thought the dash "camera" contraption projected onto the ordinary glass. Gives pause and more questions about replacements. Virtually every LC spec I see has the HUD as option.

yeah I explicitly did not opt for HUD in my build. Even more relieved now.

I would suggest where ever you have your windshield replaced make sure it's a Lexus windshield. Had to replace on my SC430 and it was a 2k job instead of a non lexus glass. I had to insist with my insurance company for original replacement, the other windshield was $300. Pay for the Lexus logo no doubt.

Had a crack as well. Dealership outsourced the install (they came to the dealership). Total cost was ~2k. Most of it was for the labor cost for calibration! Insurance helped. I think the cost for the Lexus windscreen was about $600...

I have HUD and had to replace mine. My insurance covered it 100%. I used highly reputable independent shop that ordered the windshield from Lexus and it was like it never happened.

Have Hagerty for my RCF. Policy states they will replace with OEM. One of the perks plus agreed replacement value rather than the typical depreciated mess.

believe the insurance companies are legally required to replace at no charge to customer BUT believe me this goes on your dossier and at renewal time it is a big red flag and affects ur renewal fee.
