Possible LC/RC replacement announcement in on December 4th...?
Not sure if any of you have been following the cryptic posts of Toyota Chairman Akio Toyoda hinting at something so big being announced on October 13th that they haven't even told any of the dealers but it appears they have now created a live stream link of the announcement here for Sunday (in the US):
Definitely something exciting happening here....and I am guessing we won't have to wait until the Japan Mobility Show at the end of this month to get some info!
I think it will almost invariably be the Toyota GR GT3 with the twin-turbo V8 planned for homologation to replace the outgoing the RC F GT3 for sports car racing in WEC and IMSA. The billboard at Fuji Speedway (below) shows a hint of what the new car will look like and it does resemble the GR GT3 concept that we've seen driven at Goodwood Festival (second picture).
They may do something where they badge it as a Lexus in the NA market and a GR Toyota elsewhere--similar to what they did with the Lexus SC 300 and the Toyota Soarer back in the 90s, in which it was the same car but badged as a Lexus for the NA market and Toyota in Japan (and similar to how the NSX is an Acura in the US, but a Honda NSX elsewhere). I can't imagine bringing to market a $200k+ Toyota for this car (the $400k+ LFA was a unfortunately a sales failure during its time--despite it being my favorite car of all time), it will likely use the Lexus moniker.

How will it work if it is the LFR (probably is) & its possibly twice the price as the LC......or will it cost less than that.....?
I guess we will know soon....do you buy the "last" LC or save some (lots) of pennies & buy one....
Depends on one’s highest priority. If one is seeking greater performance and acceleration times then the LFR is the choice. a twin turbo V8 engine augmented by an electric motor could easily provide 650 to 700+ horsepower. 0-60 MPH and 1/4 mile numbers competitive with the German offerings and Corvettes. Not important enough for me to spend more money (Probably 50-100% price premium).
The LC 500 has more than enough performance for my needs and I just believe that the overall package is quite exceptional and well done. The decision to use a normal aspirated V8 in the LC 500 was wise in my opinion. Undeniably the new turbo electrified V8 will do 0-60 in probably sub 3.5 seconds and for some that’s important.
I would buy it over the LC if it has the V8TT. I’m already looking at SL63 AMG and AMG GT lol.
I would expect it to be in the 150-170k range.
Hmmm....I've been thinking of ordering a Bespoke 2026 USB/white 'vert....but if this thing is sexy enough AND its sold at a Lexus dealer I would definitely be open to it if its under $200k.
It would have to be really special as I only want to drive convertibles since I live in AZ....anxiously awaiting tonight's announcement!

I don’t care what anyone says, but to me the LC is underpowered. People always say it’s enough but I bet they wouldn’t complain if there’s a more potent version in the same form(LCF that was cancelled). I believe this power plant is from the continuation of the LCF project that was cancelled. Hope to wake up to some exciting news tomorrow!

100%."+ 600" crank hp would have done wonders the weight of this vehicle.

My intuition is grab an LC while the grabbing is possible, while that is more and more impossible. Deep down I have always believed Toyota gave us the LC to prove they were equal to the legacy brands, but with their subtle twist and balance between performance and design and luxury and a lower price subsidized ( just me guessing and knowing what pride is) by corporate. Going forward who knows if they will introduce a model that's such a value?

Spot on in my opinion. This is what I meant by overall exceptional car, it’s a superbly put together package of the variables that you cite. It is its own thing. I think the LFR is meant to directly take on 911s, and twin turbo V8 German competitors. if Lexus puts its mind and resources toward that goal, it can certainly accomplish this ( It will in my opinion). Additionally, it will have a built quality and craftsmanship the others don’t quite match. I can see $175- 200K+ easily. We shall find out soon.
