24LC 9K miles, never driven in rain, snow, dirt road.
directly in front of drivers rear wheel,,glue failed? anyone else have this happen..Hopefully warranty will cover it but dealer is 45 minutes away on a good day.
Yeah that is a piece of pretty thick PPF that comes on each side skirt from the factory. Probably just a bad install leading to premature failure of the adhesive. Definitely ask the dealer to cover replacement of the PPF.
If they refuse it would be pretty easy to remove that piece yourself, clean the glue residue, and apply your own piece of PPF. You can buy a small roll of xpel on Amazon if it comes to it.
Edit: I did not look closely enough at the Pic to see that in fact the side skirt is cracked
Isn't the bumper cracked, causing the ppf to come off? Blurry pic
Oh my I didn't even see that without zooming in.
@barncobob63 this has happened to others. I would push Lexus to replace the entire side skirt, but they may try to say you caught an impact somewhere that caused this. I think the side skirt piece itself comes painted from Lexus if you have to order a new part entirely.
Are you sure you haven't been grounding the car out at all, on breakovers? That little aero piece touches the concrete every time I leave my parking garage, so I take it verrrry slowly... Odd that it broke where it did, though.
Odd that the aero piece isn't designed to be sacrificial / detach before this kind of body damage occurs, but hey ho. I plan to keep my car for a very long time, I shall just have to be super careful about this, as one day the factory won't be able just to send us out a factory-painted part, if it goes...
IM thinking of removing mine, think its held on by two plastic rivet things. Im the only one that will notice and for the money involved might be worth it...I just dont want to have repair shop add it to carfax as a ding.

Buy the part and then take it to a shop to install, they shouldn't report anything if you do that.
Personally I'd figure out how to DIY it anyway, can't be too hard.
That thing is bigger than it looks. There’s a separation directly in front of it, which you can see in the pictures of my car. If it were better supported, I think an impact would be spread out more evenly instead of being concentrated in just that one area.
