Default Center console latch broke

Has anyone had the lever break on the center console that opens the lid?

My lever piece got loose and then just broke off. Was wondering if there is some DIY out there than spending $500+ for the whole piece.

that **** is so flimsy. The center console storage is probably the cheapest thing in that car. Lexus wtf. Tempted to rebuild the whole thing with advance resin 3D printing and custom upholstery

So the part I swapped out wasn’t it and the other option is to order the whole center console which is $3k. If I can’t figure out an alternative or some used part from a junkyard, velcro may be a sensible option.

Works great on kitchen cabinets when the Euro hinge fails, also.

So the part I changed didn’t fix the issue. I’ve included what I think may be the culprit that are the hinges and would appreciate anyone that can take video and some pictures of theirs so I can see what an operating one looks like. Thanks in advance.

So the lever piece I got ended up working. Shout out to
wholeSlab. He had reached out to me through CL and did FaceTime and walked me through what it should look like and it just needed to “hook.” Working perfectly now.

If your center console breaks get this piece from your dealer. I was seriously considering even Velcro at some point as changing the whole unit would have costed $3k.

Odd that you mention the center console quality. My new LC is flawless with the exception of the center lid. To me it seems to not function properly due to a weak spring action when opening and closing. I have to push the latch in then "help" it fully open. I also have to "help" close it. I don't use it so it is really not an issue but it is certainly not to my expectations of this car. I seem to remember reading about center console issues last fall at the port but who knows. I am 100 miles away from a dealer and I absolutely refuse to make two trips for a warranty repair and allow the dealership to replace the entire center console for a slow latch. I will mention it to them when I come up for the first oil change/service visit this winter after the bugs go away.

Engineered to perfection, just don’t count on the door handles or center console to cooperate.

Ha, funny you mention that. I thought the same thing when I first got my 2024. It surprised me because everything else on the car seems perfect. Duh. Then I realized that the USB phone charging cable was curved up and touching the lid just enough to interfere with it and make it slow down. Once I ensured nothing could touch the lid, it works perfectly again.
