Unhappy Shift **** Came Loose

1200 miles on the '24 LC

Over the weekend, my wife was driving and the shift **** came loose. It was 100 plus degrees out and thought the heat may have been a factor.

So I tightened it BUT it ends up facing the 2 o'clock (maybe 2:30) position. This is to the point of resistance where I'm comfortable not to break/snap anything. If I twist counter-clockwise to 12 o'clock, it definitely feels loose.

What is the proper method to fix this in place? Plumber's tape / threadlocker / force the **** clockwise to 12 o'clock / etc ???

I would take it in, why risk breaking something let the dealer fix it under warranty

Did you try to unscrew it and then continue going counterclockwise till it goes to the next thread, so you then start screw it back on a different thread starting point. Maybe it will help.

if convenient, I agree on taking it in. Should be done while you wait.

However I do believe that **** is meant to be cranked down till it’s angled like you want it. I just replaced my **** with the carbon fiber one and it was loose where I liked it angled to me. So I cranked it another turn and it was fine, the carbon fiber one is made from a Lexus core ****..
and nice and tight.

Same mileage, same year, same loose shift ****. I turned mine back to 12 o'clock and will have the dealer lock it down at my next service.

I tried your suggestion and same result. It was about 2 o'clock position at point of resistance.

So I tightened it clock-wise to 6 o'clock. It was nerve-racking at this moment. Now last push clock-wise again to 12 o'clock and whew....SUCCESS!
