Default Air Oil Separator

After pushing the car for 1000 miles I Went into dealership for low oil light and no leaks were found so they pulled the pcv hose off and saw oil sitting inside the entrance of the manifold. Decided to go and try and fit the Figs Engineering catch can kit for the RCF/GSF, on the LC. As expected, the mounting brackets didn't work so I had a shop in town (Crown Concepts in Tucson Arizona) fabricate and powder coat a custom bracket to fit in the engine bay on the drivers side. Besides the mounting bracket, I bought an extra pcv hose just in case i needed some extra length to the hoses. Happy with the turnout and fits with the engine cover still!

Good Job. RRRacing is developing one for the LOC also. They have a prototype, but it's not yet for sale. I hope to get one soon

We need a local car to come in so we can make sure the bracket fits.

Are these really necessary for the LC’s V8 - are many here experiencing excessive oil usage? If it’s a well known issue I’d imagine Lexus would have addressed it by now?

Guess I should have made this clear. I am not trying to solve a problem and this is not a necessary mod. Lexus performed a consumption test and I fall within normal bounds. Lexus does not need to address anything as the pcv system is working as designed. All cars can have blow by when being pushed hard. Some people just rather not have the oil go back into the intake manifold because it can lower your octane and as a result, lowers your Knock Correction Learning Value.

Will Crown Concepts sell this bracket to others if people are interested? Can you share how much this cost?
I would like to know if it works as intended. Few of my friends with Lexus F vehicles and IS500 and a GSF have the Figs installed and it has some issues.

Id be surprised if Crown refused to sell the bracket to others. They are a really cool show that likes doing fab work so id give them a call and ask. It was a little over 300 dollars for them to design, draw, cut it out, and powder coat the bracket. Id assume it would be less for others since some of those steps wouldn't be necessary. I havent heard of the Figs cans having any problems. I’ll report back after many miles of hard canyon driving and update the thread. I have run my finger inside the catch can and it comes out wet and has a weird smell of oil (no puddle of oil yet though). So I assume its working correctly.

^^^^I contacted Crown Concepts and it took them a day to find your order. I was then quoted $475.00 bux. I asked them why it was higher than yours, and got no response, except to say that they charge $175.00 per hour, and the base material cost was $8.00. It was two hours for the unit and another hour for powder coat. I told them to leave the powder coat off, I'll spray it myself. I ended up with a quote of $358.00 for the bare unit. I was issued a work order number and work is under way. For my catch can, rather than buy the kit from Figs, I bought the basic catch can from the manufacturer, Radium Engineering. Figs lists the maker, so finding the correct catch can was easy. I also bought the fittings from Radium. I am extremely disappointed with RRRacing. After corresponding with them for the last three years and being told last year that they would have a solution for the LC in January '24 and then not happening

I'll post when completed.

Very weird your quote to be higher. Looking forward to seeing your set up. My catch can did actually start to collect oil too. Have oil all around the bottom corner of my can now so its definitely working. Very happy with it

javrabbit.s explanation is excellent, but I thought I might delve a bit further into it. Prior to 2007, automobiles had what was called a Road Draft Tube. This tube was cut at an angle so that while traveling a slight vacuum was created thereby venting the crankcase vapors to the atmosphere. This of course was not good for air quality. See below (a 1954 Ford V8 Road Draft Tube:

In 2007 Cars were required to fix that problem and we now have Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV). The system pumps the crankcase vapors through a PCV valve to the intake manifold where it's mixed with the fuel and air and burned during combustion, thereby reducing a pollution. This process can reduce the fuel octane rating. A way around this is the catch can described in this thread. Rather than burning those oil vapors, they are caught in the catch can and can be disposed of properly.

I know there's not much interest in this mod, but I finally completed the installation‼️ It was more of a chore than I expected. I ordered many wrong parts that I had to return. Attaching the hoses to the odd size of the Lexus interface turned out to be a problem. One of the parts I needed (2 pcs) was only available from China and took three weeks to arrive. One big surprise was the increase in my KCLV. In the first twenty miles of driving, my KCLV increased by 2 points This was unexpected
Oh and a nice surprise from Crown Concepts - They only charged me $278.80 for the bracket
