Since the 24 LC500 now has tires that are not run flats, they added a tire repair kit. My dealer says that Lexus is aware of this problem. It's been 6 months and I haven't heard of how Lexus is going to resolve this
What should they do?
Can the flap be placed under the kit or down along side it?
Or can you temp relocate the kit?
The straps are bolted to the underfloor. There are no velcro attachments. The kit's too heavy for velcro.
I've turned the carpet rubber side up because the carpet should be reversed since the extension of carpet should be on the passenger side.
So much for planning ahead and attention to detail. I ask about this when at the dealer picking mine up. I should have just pulled it and left it with the dealer and requested replacement when and if available. This is a good example of throw it in there they won't notice. This would look ridiculous on a Camry much less an LC. I did not get a jack, lug wrench or other tools, but I did get an ill-fitting carpet and a scredriver!
I bought the rubber trunk mat as I thought it seemed to cover more on the right side (with a slot to accommodate the first aid kit strap. However, similar issue on the left side to the carpet trunk mat (reported above) where it did not fit the new tire repair kit and strap. I ended up measuring where the strap would come through the rubber mat, and used an xacto knife to cut a small slit so the strap could feed through. Now the trunk mat sits flat and the tire repair kit straps in on top. Wouldn't work so well for a carpet trunk mat, but it was an acceptable solution (to me) for the rubber mat.

Sounds like an excellent solution to the problem. I am waiting to see if Lexus will provide the proper fitting carpet or just refund my money.
