Just installed Michelin A/S 4 all season tires. Had to go up one size to 255/40/21 on front and kept the stock size 275/35/21 on rear as no exact all season match for the fronts. I have an air pump and slime kit in trunk (and roadside assistance if needed). I immediately noticed the ride was much smoother on the standard tires vs run flats and pretty quiet too. I suspect the softer sidewalls absorb bumps and shocks better. I have used these all season tires on many cars I have had and I always liked the performance, plus I can drive my car all year round regardless of temperature (as long as roads are clean). I am not looking for the finest high performance handling as I am a grand touring driver, so no sacrifice for me going to all seasons. I guess Lexus must also feel the same way about the ride on run flats, as I saw the 24 models now come with summer non-run flat tires and a pump kit in the trunk.

One other thing I also noticed. I measured the tread on the old tires and they were at 7/32's inch. They have 10/32's when new. The car has less than 3000 miles on it, so it appears to be peeling off about 1/32 inch of rubber for each 1000 miles driven. That would mean I would hit the warning strips in the tires within about 10000 miles. The treadwear rating of 300 on the summer run flat tires is estimated at 15K-30K miles by govt standards, but staggered wheels lowers that by 50%, so with the heavy weight of this car, approximately 10K miles or so of life on the summer run flat tires might be pretty expected. The all seasons have a tread life rating of 540, so I might see nearly double the life on them, and considering a set of these all seasons costs about $500 less than the OEM summer run flats, sounds like a win-win for me.

That’s good to hear. Thanks for the report. I did a lot of reading in these AS4 and they do seem to be best in class.
I also got a set of Michellin AS4 in stock 20” sizes. I went with Vossen HF5 20x8.5 and 20x9.5. The rims showed up 2 weeks early but FedEx damaged one of the box and I’m now waiting for a replacement.
I can’t wait to get them mounted.

My LC just landed and it has Dunlops on it--was hoping for Michelin's. You guys still happy with the Dunlops 2 years later?

Living in the NE, I swapped them out for all seasons once it got cold so didn’t get a chance to experience them beyond ~1000 miles. No complaints in the short period I had them.

I just changed out my original Michelin Pilot Super Sport 21" run flats with Michelin Pilot AS4. I have 16K miles on my 2021 Convertible. The new tires ride so much better. Very pleased so far...just been a week.

Pilot Super sport run flat? didn't know these existed.. if those really are run flat, it is to be expected that overall comfort with a non- run flat tire will be better but otherwise...
Better how?
Better comfort/ better roadhoding/ better steering response?

The Michelin AS tire rates really good in AS tires testing, but the dry/ rain test data are always less than those of the top dedicated summer tires like Pilot Sport 4s, Conti SportCompact 7 etc
If you drive the car in sub-winter circumstances too, and don't want to change to real winter tires, I fully understand getting AS stuff, but otherwise I would always go for the summer tire as AS is always a compromise

The Michelin Super Sport run flats were the original factory installed tires on my car. Yes they were run flats. That model of tire is no longer available as far as I can tell. I can only judge the difference from the OEM to the new AS4 tires, since I have not tried other types on my car. Since the OEMs were worn and due for replacement, any new tire would typically feel better in steering. Especially since the tires on our cars cannot be rotated, the fronts wear more than the rears on the outer edges. The comfort of the ride however is considerably improved for normal driving on bumpy roads. My wife even noticed the difference as a passenger. I am not an aggressive driver so high speed cornering is not part of my evaluation regimen. .

Reading through all the tire related threads, there are many opinions on tire preference. I drive my car every day. I do not drive in the snow. I have other vehicles for that purpose. I live in Colorado, so driving in the rain is very rare here. I wanted tires for a good ride and the best mileage longevity. These fit the bill for me.
