Here is what I said on their YT channel: I was fortunate to own various iterations of 911's for the past 20+ years and I have loved each and every one of them! My driving philosophy was "if you can think it, you can do it". They were super responsive and it made you feel like you were driving on rails. And when I moved up to a "real" turbo back it the day, a friend asked me what was the difference. I said the other 911's were very fast while the turbo is scary fast. They were all very reliable for me. The LC500 caught my eye late last year and I finally managed to buy a new 2024 earlier this year and I absolutely love it ... but for different reasons. The sound is simply and utterly fantastic! That can not be said enough. Is it quick like the 911's ... well no, absolutely not. But it has it own charms that may me smile almost as often as the 911's did. But the price difference is getting much, much wider as the Porsche prices are even more insane than they used to be. Both are excellent cars and are fun to own and drive ... period.
What I didn't write is here in East TN, there are many, many twisty roads that are incredibly fun for the 911's I had (Tail of the Dragon, Cherohala Skyway, and several just across the NC border). I haven't driven any of these yet in the LC500 and I probably won't at the speeds I drove in the 911's but I have been pleasantly surprised at the LC500 agility and the automatic transmission will make up some of my time versus always having a manual in the Porsche's. They are simply both great cars have and now I'm older, I really prefer the LC500. I'm sure my trips to the service department will be much cheaper too.
Been a lot of chatter that they would replace the LC essentially from above and below, rather than directly - a $100k ish car and a $200+k car. Kind of makes sense - I wonder if the "lower" of the two (a) would share a platform with the next Supra and (b) would be called SC?
After years of dreaming, hustling, and building… I just picked up my 3rd Lexus LC500 but my dream LC! I just keep coming back to this one. There’s just nothing like it, the sound, the design, the way it makes you feel behind the wheel.
And to celebrate, we took it straight from the dealership to Korean BBQ (because priorities 🍖🔥 and, for the first time, I handed my wife the keys to see what she thought. Let’s just say… she’s already talking about keeping it for herself. For me this is personal and isn’t just a car i bought it’s a piece of the journey. From building my business to enjoying the things I once only dreamed about.
I’ve seen plenty of LC crash videos, but don’t recall seeing a convertible. Guess you convertible guys drive a little more cautiously than the coupe crowd
What happens when you line up a 2025 AMG SL43, a 2019 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 w/ Sport Chrono, and a 2024 Lexus LC500 for back-to-back drag races? We put them head-to-head in best-of-3 half-mile battles and a quarter-mile roll race from 60 km/h to see who really deserves bragging rights. But just when you think it’s over… our silent assassins Chinook and his little brother Lil’ Nook arrive in all-black, bringing an outrageous 2024 Corvette C8 Convertible and a wild Alfa Romeo 4C Spider.
