LC video thread
This video is what keeps bringing me back to thinking I'll be ok on the track for 10 minutes at a time of pushing the car. The temp gauge is climbing like crazy in this video but they do push it pretty hard for almost 10 straight minutes. I'm sure Misha is driving it harder than I will as well, most likely.
Edit: I just assumed there was an rpm limiter that would kick-in past red line. Noticed several times he exceeded red line without an apparent cut-out.

For engine oil temps, you could always add the cooler from the Japanese "S" models, I suppose. As for the transmission, which seems the most limiting factor, I gather that using "Sport" rather than "Sport +" mode makes a meaningful difference. You really don't want to overheat your transmission fluids - bad things may happen thereafter...
I thought that cooler on the S models was a transmission cooler rather than oil cooler? Either way I don't know how much effort that is, seems costly and I haven't found a full parts list either.
For engine oil temps I am going to run a diesel weight (rotella 15w40) and hope that provides some additional heat resistance beyond the normal 5w30. Not much I can do beyond that.
Saw this video somewhere, but I distinctly remember watching the track images at the top most of the way through, This time I was pretty glued to the the dash watching the gears, speed, rpms, oil temp etc. and especially enjoyed the blue hashmark on rpms that briefly indicated prior max rpm after gear change. Haven't noticed this on mine. Could be due to me not pushing the limits or just missing it. Glad you posted.

I don't know if anything changed with the gauge cluster settings on the 2024.

Yes. Those who have participated in the Lexus LC 500 track events confirmed that the instructor/professional drivers advise to use the sport mode rather than sport + mode. They drive these cars hard all day on the track with apparently no overheating issues (Engine and transmission) if this recommendation is followed. These instructors would certainly know best.

I ran my sets of 3 laps on Road Atlanta in Sport+ and while I did not hit any transmission temp warnings, I did get the engine oil temp up to 3/4 by the end of the 3rd lap. Others in the group did run into yellow Trans Temp warnings.
If you are trying to run an LC even at 8/10 for a 20 minute track session it is almost guaranteed to overheat without planning in some cool down laps.

Thanks for your personal track activity feedback. Have you encountered any overheating issues with spirited street or back road driving ?

Configure the custom mode to use sport mode for engine and Transmission, then use Sport + for suspension which will be ideal for track use and lessen Oil and Transmission overheating events in the same time you will get the driving dynamics of Sport + mode.
