Default Cam gear recall released!

Just heard back from my lexus dealership that the recall info was released two days ago and they asked me if I would like it done while my car is already in.
Just thought i'd let everyone know and start a new thread for better visibility.

ITS OUT!

Results may vary by how on the ball your dealership is.

I logged into Lexus' website and looks to be updated as well:

Safety Recall DLG Remedy Notice - Certain 2006 to 2011 Model Year IS350, Certain 2010 to 2011 Model Year IS350C and Certain 2007 to 2011 Model Year GS350 Vehicles - 2GR-FSE Intake VVT Actuator Gear

This is an important Safety Recall. Please contact your authorized Lexus dealer and schedule an appointment to have this remedy performed as soon as possible.

Yep, I agree...thus the reason I'm going in tomorrow to see what they can do for me.

Thanks for the update. I need some help; lexus canada has changed their website and I can no longer view my profile, recalls, service history and so on.

Can anyone provide assistance as I'm clearly in the dark

Thanks

Since I'm close to 60k miles, I'll see if my dealership can swap out my plugs for little or no cost.

Sounds like they want to guinea pig your car being one of the first to get the recall done.

I don't think they have to take the spark plugs out to do this recall?

It came out 2 days ago, but it was delayed at the dealer I work at for a day due to not receiving some of the parts. We got them today, and have done 4 already.

no probably not...but labor to get to the plugs is already there...which was the point I think...

Is this for the cam gear rattle issue or was another problem with the cam gears discovered?

just read on another recall thread that it takes 7 hours to fix...

while this recall is being fixed by Lexus...I am pretty sure they will recommend u get "this or that" done also for an additional cost while they have your whole engine torn apart...

anyone got a recall letter yet?

no we don't have to take the plugs out, but when i perform this repair I check to see if they are due and recommend replacement with no labor charge while I'm in there. Same goes for the ZLA, its good business in my book. So it wouldn't be unreasonable to ask to charge only parts. Or at minimum a reduced Labor....

Don't worry about being a Guinea pig, the repair has been around for a couple years since it was just a TSB for a rattle.

That has a 9 year unlimited miles recall time frame also for the carbon build up issue. Under one condition, the dealer has to reproduce the problem... I took mines in multiple times.. they haven't "reproduced" it yet... BS.
