Default Having difficult changing side mirror puddle light bulb

I have read few forums here about replacing side mirror puddle light bulb but for some reason i am having difficulty getting to all four screws even with having the proper tools as mentioned in the forums "slim X head screw drivers". I am conserned that i am putting to much force on the mirror which might break.

I was able to get to one screw, but for others i tried it out with initial stages of damaging the screw head.

Please can someone shine a light here on this and help me out with the trick of taken of the side mirror cover?

Thanks

what you wanna do is face the mirro as far up as you can, and u some gentle force haha. and then lift up and take the mirror off then, you have access to all 4 screws. and the pop the back partially off and the light will be able to slip out of the bottom of the mirrior assebly.

1. Turn your side mirror outwards and remove side mirrors by facing the mirror up as far as possible, and pull out and up from the bottom.

2. Unscrew the 4 screw in the corner.

3. Carefully detach the front cover from the rear and remove both pieces.

MV350 is spot on. I just did this a few days ago and did it exactly the way he suggests and it worked. There was some difficulty putting the mirror back on but once I figured it out, it was snap....litterally. Let me know if you need any specific advice.

I installed blue wedge LED's from V-LED. Two things I noticed -1) They don't fade on/off as smoothly as the stock bulbs & 2) My sideview mirrors used to tilt down whenever I put the car in reverse....they stopped doing that after I put in the LED's :-(

If anyone has any idea why that is, I would really appreciate the insight.

What MV350 said is on point. Don't be afraid to use some force. Once you get one side done, the other side will be easier.

I so go with V-Leds flank bulb. So far they are the brightest I've had.

+1 for V-LED Flank bulbs.
Had them for over 6 months without any problems. Very bright.

Whats the chances of me breaking something like a plastic piece behind the mirror ? I tried earlier and wasnt sucessful. Do I put my fingers in the middle or at both corners and pull out ?

I would put in the middle, and lift up until all tabs are out except the top 2.

Then I would pull downwards towards yourself to get those last 2 tabs out.

It was pretty simple, and the tabs are pretty strong so use some force. Just don't pull it out in some awkward direction.

Also, +1 for V-LEDs flank LEDs. I got mine in 5k, and they still have that dimming effect whenever it lights up or turns off.

2006 IS250 AWD.

Sounds stupid but check the side mirror control switch and make sure its pressed down to the L or R. If its in the middle then they don't tilt down

It's not going to fit for sure. Only the 5 SMD type that is four less than yours will fit in the housing and close properly.

This is such an easy mod but the very first mirror puddle light I tried to change, I cracked my mirror putting it back in place. Took off the mirrors many times and changed out my friend's puddle lights after without any problems but that was an expensive mistake. New mirror glass was $120.

So are the ones I circled in red the ones that pop out when I pull outwards ? If it is then its only the type where pinches on and off ? Then the blue is the one where you just pull down and it will come off.

Does this look the same on the 2011 ?
