I'm starting to think they are going to do something similar to BMW with their M Performance packages, in that they will have the unoffensive bland styling for the volume sellers (non F-sport) and then have a much more aggressively styled F-sport version as well.

Here's hoping anyways... You would have to pay me to drive what has been shown so far.

If nothing else, I guess it will help keep our resale value up.

Top of the page says Feb. 2013 Debut

If that is what's to come, I'll be buying my currently leased IS at the end of the lease... or hopefully the IS-F won't change for a couple more years or something and then I'll get the IS-F

Seriously, what the hell?!!? that is ugly

You guys know what a test mule is right??

They are using a current gen body to TEST next-gen parts (like suspension/powertrain/etc).

Words cannot describe how much I hate what Lexus is doing with all these new front ends...oh how I utterly despise how the bumper just flares out at the bumper instead of just following the angled aggressive line...brings a tear to my eye...

I don't know if anyone else read this...

"and/or a FLAT 6 engine" tho???

Rumors about Lexus working on a new generation IS sedan have been around for awhile, but this is the first time a mule of the next IS has been caught testing. The mule is still wearing a modified body of the current generation, but it sits on a new platform, a new drivetrain, and a new suspension.

This beginner mule was the first move towards keeping the new design language hidden from all of us camera-happy journalists, but it still can’t keep us from speculating a bit on the new model. The next IS will feature the same design language as the recently announced GS and LS. Under the hood, it has been rumored to feature a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated 4-cylinder and/or a 3.6-liter flat-6 engine. The 2014 Lexus IS F will continue with a high-powered V-8 with an output of more than 400 HP. The IS-F will sprint from 0 to 60 mph sprint in about 4.5 seconds and will hit a top speed of about 170 mph.

I highly doubt it. And this is all rumor mill. Its very unlikely that Lexus would develop a flat-6 for solely the IS considering the GS shares power trains, not to mention the next gen LS will get a base V6 to compete against the 740i 3.0T. So if their not developing it, then they would have to source the 3.6L flat-6 from Subaru, but it is nowhere near as powerful or fuel efficient as the current DI 3.5L V6 and they won't pedal backwards. It'll almost certainly be a "V"6 while the liter/displacement remains to be seen
