ANY dealership you go to is going to rip you off. Sensor alone on rockauto is less then $200 so the rest is all for labor which is insane.
bank 2 sensor 1 or 2? I'm going to guess #1 at that price
sensor 1 is in the header and will not be an easy job, if you have an early IS-F (i.e 2008-2009) there's a good chance the sensor will be seized in the header. Could be worth paying someone to do it.
sensor 2 will be in the mid pipe, hardest part would be having the appropriate tool to remove the sensor
I just did a midpipe sensor. The OEM part and O2 tool cost me 135 at autozone. I did it myself in about 25 minutes. Just pull the carpet up, unplug the sensor, get under the car, unbolt the sensor, reverse process with new sensor.
Now they want 4800 to replace my cat that is clogged apparently...so if i just get the headers we eliminate the primary cats and o2 sensor?? Is this correct? Cuz if so i just wasted 750 on doing the o2 sensor...fml
Most dealers won't install aftermarket... I suggest you take your time and do some research around here before committing to any more of their repairs.
Oh im not having dealer install..i have A real mechanic for that..not the hacks i been using cuz hes pretty far away, but hes been building cars his whole life..regardless is this the part i need or is it 2 of these? Sorry im dumb
Aftermarket headers do not remove any of the O2 sensors.
The primary sensors are absolutely necessary for proper fueling with or without aftermarket headers.
You will need a conditioner/simulator on the rear sensors to keep them happy with emissions codes with aftermarket headers.
I'm not sure if that magnaflow is the whole header or just the cat. To replace just the cat the header has to be removed, the cat cut off, and a new one welded on. I don't think I would go that route if that's what the magnaflow is.
Most people go aftermarket because for a little more $$ you can get more HP or its actually cheaper if you really needed to replace both.
Aftermarket headers start off ~$1700 IIRC and can be over $3k if you want equal length, keep in mind the extra cost for new O2's and header gaskets (~$280-300)
You also might be able to find a set of used aftermarket or stock headers in the for sale section here on the forum or possibly ebay. If your looking at used stock headers be sure the threads on the O2 sensor holes aren't ruined, and check for broken welds on the flange (can be repaired)
No it won't sound terrible with the stock exhaust. You'll get a bump in power and get rid of the restrictive stock manifolds and primary cats! Just buy some primary O2 sensors to install fresh with the headers so you don't have to worry about them going forward.
