Default Removing bumpers and bumper tabs

I was reading that if you remove either front or rear bumper on our cars the bumpers will no longer be the same as terms of the way it sits or broken tabs.

Is this true? Anyone have any problems after removing and reinstalling their bumpers?

The body shop has had both my front and rear bumpers off for re-finishing and installed them back without fitment issues. If they break any clips, they replace it with new ones which are pretty cheap.

Unfortunately our cars have very thin tabs on the bumbers , especially in the rear, that can easily break or loose strength. This cause our cars to have some sag after re-installation. I've seen this issue on many ISFs. I suggest not to remove the bumpers more than once and unless you really have to.

The tabs that the bumpers go into will likely not need to be replaced after removal. I've removed the front bumper probably 5 times since I've owned the car in 3 years. No sagging or bad alignment afterwards. However the rear bumper is a different story....the tabs on rear bumper itself are awful. When I purchased the car it had a little sag. I've removed it a couple times to do some work with lights and diffusers. The sag is worse now then when I bought it. I was tired of looking at it and also thought it needed new clips. I bought new ones and after removing the bumper and inspecting the old clips to new clips it was obvious it was the bumper that needs replacing. Hope that helps.

Have confidence, I removed the rear cover a couple of times, and I've got ten thumbs. Got it back on okay as well.

Interesting information. What tabs are we talking about on the rears? I have removed my rear bumper a couple of times and haven't noticed any issues. I plan to remove it again soon and I would like to know where the tabs are located so that I am extra careful.

Thanks

Huh, didn't know that. That explains the issue I have.
Good to know.

Thanks

Yeah, don't take it off unless you really need to. I've avoided taking off my front and rear bumpers. The tabs are loosen over time and sag, now that I have said that you'll notice it on 80% of ISFs if you look at the front and rear bumpers. It's never the same unless I think the tabs are completely replaced.

The tabs on the rear bumpers are paper thin and will sag or completely tear off with age. They are part of the bumper cast.
