Default Header Question

Hi Everyone,
I'm new to here. I'm sure this question has been asked. I have a 2008 IS F with a crack in my header. I'm going to replace them with either Sikky or PPE.
1. Which do recommend?
2. Do I need to change my exhaust?
3. Any recommendations for installer/dealer in Los Angeles.

Thanks,
Stephen

Welcome to CL both are quality headers and produce similar hp numbers. Both company's give you several choices to choose from. PPE offers UL and EL, Sikky 1 7/8 race headers and V2. Comes down to sound, budget and preference. I've had PPE UL or Unequal Length headers for 5yrs no issues. Combined with JoeZ exhaust love sound of this combo.

Stephen, my recommendation is go with PPE headers. Zero issues and great feedback from the ones who have the unequal and equal length ones installed. Along with this, I would also look into the engine mount replacement, since they'll be accessible while installing the headers. Both FIGS and RR Racing produce this replacement respectively, so it is best to read up on each one and decide which is right for you and how you plan on using the car.

As far as installation, while not the cheapest in terms of cost, Tommy @ Music Box in South El Monte will do a thorough job installing. He worked on mine and numerous others in the LA County area, with some trekking from even further looking for a reputable installer who stands by his work. It will take an entire business day, so do plan accordingly, but if you get there early in the morning, provided you have an appointment and there aren't others waiting for his services, you should have everything done in the evening time at the latest.

Best of luck, and do let us know if you decide to go with Tommy. Some of us always randomly show up there to kick it with him and show our support. It's a mini meet almost every time I visit him.

1) Headers is by far my favorite mod to the car. I have SIKKY V2 but PPE is also absolutely top notch. There is plenty of details on the forum about both. Whichever you choose you will be pleased.

2) No need to change the exhaust, but you might want to as you will magnify the power of the headers. As long as you can handle the loudness. Do research about which exhaust system will be to your liking paired with headers. Ultimate choice is the PPE Dual system.

3) ETL Garage, they are not in LA, but Riverside. $600 installed. The have done 20+ ISFs, real experts.

Also have the Sikky V2’s and love them. Sound is amazing, and power gains are unreal. But you will experience that with any of the options seeing as the factory manifold design is an absolute enbarrassment to automotive engineering. Installed myself, only took a few hours on a lift.

We have PPE headers in stock... with additional discount with our tune, our new billet engine mounts, and Borla exhaust. In terms of performance and *quality* PPEs are second to none.

We also have a really good new installer we are working with in the LA area.

I would go with RRRacings header, intake, tune packgage. you will save money in the long run. You can check out my build theard, I have PPE headers with Xforce exhaust and it sounds amazing. Whenever it's sunny my windows are down, music is off, and i'm WOT.

PPE headers for sure. JoeZ matched up with the ppe headers sounds amazing. Make sure to go catless to get the best sound and more power out of them. You will have a smell of exhaust fumes but that's basically because of the cats not being present

PPE for me! I got the RR-racing PPE headers, intake and tune. The car feels completely different, in a good way. I have the greddy titanium exhaust and it sounds like an absolute beast!!
