Default Key not detected please help.

Hey everyone I’m having a strange issue with my car whenever I turn the car off and open the door it starts to beep and when I close the door and try to lock the doors with the key fob it won’t and the screen in the gauge displays key not detected . I have to wait a few minutes before I can lock the car with the key fob. I replaced both batteries on the fobs and the problem is still there. So I’m kind of out of ideas and need help to figure out the issue. Thanks again.

Car battery died recently, or is it dying?

Remove battery from key fob and place it close to start button and see if you can start your car that way. If you can't, your key code is somehow not "seeded" anymore and it needs to be paired up with the computer again, I think.

Give that manual startup a try first...

Ok tried your suggestion and car starts right up. So now what can it be lol. Now it doesn’t do it all the time just sometimes it’s sporadic.

So another idea is the proximity computer (door lock) is not recognizing the key fob's code. The steering column computer (startup) is separate from the proximity one, so I think you should get this looked by a stealership technician, or anyone that has a Techstream.

Techstream can tell you if your keys are paired up with both of the computers or not, that should be the surefire way of ruling this out after checking batteries.

Maybe, but Techstream is the only way you'll be able to troubleshoot this after trying all the simple stuff.

I was having the same problem. Doors weren't unlocking from time to time but the car was starting no problem. Ended up being just the batteries in the fob itself. I bought new ones from London Drugs when I first got the car. But it was still doing it. Had to search for Energizer Max batteries and never had the problem with the doors again.
