Default Windshield trim cracked - do I replace, or does Windshield company

Having the windshield replaced on my car. Is this trim covered or something I need to purchase. If so, does anyone have a part number?

Thanks!

I have had 2 cracked windshields in the past 4 months. I went through my insurance to get both replaced. They sent out safelite who put in OEM glass and it included those side pieces.

To the OP - Yes the clips and moldings get replaced with the windshield.

To Mr. NSX - I doubt you got OEM glass from Safelite.

Both of you should read this thread:

Hi Lou. Im 100% positive that both windshields were OEM. When i called my insurance, they asked if i wanted OEM or non-OEM and said my deductible would be the same either way. I told them i wanted OEM and they said it would take an extra day to get the glass from lexus. When safelite came out, he made a point to show me the lexus logo stamped on the windshield as well as the trim pieces in a lexus/toyota box. Afterward, i had to sign a paper approving the work and it had the price of the windshield at like $1600.

^^^^Ok, but read the last post in the link I posted above. You can see the problems I had and the measures I had to take with State Farm in getting my OEM windshield.

Just read the post and all i can say is, WOW! I'd go crazy if my insurance gave me that much grief just to get an OEM windshield. I have USAA and they have always been great. Both times that i had my windshield replaced, they asked me if i wanted OEM or aftermarket and when i said OEM, they just said Ok, it will be an extra day for us to get it from lexus.

I've got a nice chip that's going to need replacement with USAA too. Did you have to ask them specifically for OEM? I called them yesterday, and they just forwarded me to Safelite but it was a holiday so they were closed.

I've only had to do this on a beater so I didnt give a ****. forget how the process works. This car likes to eat rocks I guess (the prior owner had replaced it already but with non-OEM)

WOW ! live in AZ and have never seen cracked moulding like that. Safelite can replace both for $80 with a warranty and they are mobile. Dealer here wanted $210 each lol

The crappy windshield trim is a common issue with the 2IS, here's a thread with a ton of info including part #'s and tips on replacing the pieces: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...placement.html

Passenger side trim (RH) #: 75551-53020
Driver side trim (LH) #: 75552-53020
Clips (5 per side): 75545-53010

Total cost to replace both sides on your own: around $115.

Thank you for this!

I want to replace my whole windshield and all the plastic trim.

The trim is cracking, the windshield is chipped, and my tint on the inside is peeling (the whole windshield is tinted)

I want to just replace and re-tint it.
